Books from the other side of the table
Hazel Crowe
Four practical books about high-stakes conversations at work: the negotiation, the hard talk with your own team, the meeting where you have to speak up, and the culture behind all of them.
Four practical books about high-stakes conversations at work.
Who wrote them
Hazel Crowe spent 20 years on the buying side of commercial negotiation, 12 of them also as her workplace's representative, then 11 years running employee relations. She's retired now, and the books are what she watched happen from both sides of the table.
For years her notes had to be read fast by a colleague about to walk into a meeting, and later they had to stand up to being read out at a tribunal. The books are written the same way, plain and flat. Where a point rests on a study, she names it and says how well it has held up.
“What I can tell you is what reached my side of the table, and what didn't.”
